Leave get large brown spots then dry and fall off. We have trimmed it way back applied a systemic(sp) treatment. It has new healthy growth, but still have some spotting and leaves falling off still. Any ideas?

I have 3 giant bushes out front. They have been growing great until recently the middle one’s leaves started falling off and looks pretty bare. It looks like there is need leaves growing. Any ideas on what happened? More water?
