Happy #freshleaffriday everyone. First off: my cute Blob is working on another leaf. He is really wise for wear, but since he is the one the mites loved most, I am delighted. Also in stock today: more fuzzy hoya leaves. Since I am a bit of a clutz I damaged two, but this one is still growing... and hairy. Aaand last but not least: yes I know, oncidiums work ages on their spikes... but come on! Almost there now! And a bonus, though not mine: another visit at my parents' house, another gorgeous bloom. They are so absolutely lovely. #happyplants

Soon 😊 Managed to save the second one as well, it seems 😊🌸🌿🌸 #orchidlovers #happyplants

Woohoo, I've heard #cattleyaorchid s are short bloomers, but this one now has 3 weeks behind her and is still going. And all that in light of the stress she must have experienced during her travel here and her settling in, while preparing those gorgeous (and still gorgeously fragrant) blooms. I still have her on the coffee table where I spend my mornings, and every morning, she envelops me with this intense citrussy fragrance. At first I was not sure if I really liked it, but now I am. Wholeheartedly. I will miss it, when it's gone. Paradoxically I cannot wait for the blooms to fade, because then I can start repotting her and blast her with every growlight I have to have her rebloom with many more flowers πŸ˜€. Well, I can dream right? Also, since we talked about collorchanging in orchids a while back somewhere: I really really like the shift to a more creamy off-white that she has done during the last week. Makes her look even more elegant. (Will post a before picture for comparison. ) #orchidlovers #happyplants

Good morning everybody. I was just checking my pretties more closely than usual and wanted to share some delightful #rootporn. After all those months of watching roots die and wither due to my killer fungus without any new growth, I'm now in #newgrowth heaven. Just look at those roots. apart from that cattleya, all of them have been repotted less than 2 months ago. All of this is new growth. Even the cattleya (repotted about 4 months ago). No dieback, just roots everywhere. I need to seriously stock up on sphagnum and bark 😍😍😍 #happyplants #orchidlovers #phalaenopsisorchid

πŸ˜† can anybody tell me, what she is planning to do with that root? I mean, I know they grow them any way they want, but this has to be the most eccentric one I've seen as of yet. Give it some time, and it surpasses the leaves. To the heavens! #orchidlovers

πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ months of waiting and empty sheaths .... and now: what a nice surprise this evening. Soon. πŸ”πŸŒΈπŸŒΏπŸŒΈ #orchidlovers #happyplants

Hear ye hear ye, this is the first of an onslaught of a blissful #orchidlover's and newly converted #hoya fan's spam posts. So much is going well - at least in the plant realm, and that's what we are here for, isn't it? First off: cattleya bliss πŸ˜€. just look at these two. The first (unless Greg messes up the order of my pictures again πŸ˜‰) is my snowflake frosty. She is the first catt whose bloom will be 100% the result of my (and her) effort. Just imagine all those blooms. I only took the plunge into the cattleya realm last year, and I was very skeptical about being able to provide enough light in my dreary northern conditions to get one to bloom. But hey, let this be your sign to get a cattleya 🌸🌸🌸 And the other one, the nakornchaisri ruby? Just look at that plump new pseudobulb. Isn't it gorgeous? And those new roots? She arrived wrapped tightly into a big piece of bark - which might have made sense where she came from, but made 0 sense in my home, so I had to throw caution out of the window and repot immediately. Cattleya lovers will know the risk. She lost all but one root, and I realized later that she must have had some snail eggs on that remaining one, so snails snacked on it for a long time before I noticed. so she was basically rootless. But she pulled through. After months and months, the new bulb is coming in, as are the roots. And she doesn't even seem too stressed. These plants are marvelous. #newgrowth #happyplants

What a difference a day makes (or two). I just posted about the upcoming snowflake frosty blooms. Yesterday evening, two buds abruptly changed color - as gorgeous as can be already, and this morning.... well, would you look at that. I guess I'm not done orchid spamming this feed for now. Will update when completely open, and the fragrance has arrived. I am sooooo excited for my first own catt bloom. #plantsmakepeoplehappy #orchidlovers

Short snowflake frosty update: Though far from being in full bloom, the fragrance is in and it's... special. The first days, the first whiffs smelled like a very well balanced, elegant, sweet expensive perfume. It still does in the morning or from further away. Close up, it's more like a heavy sweet and a bit overbearing scent. More like a teenagers first perfume experiments πŸ˜€ I love the first, not so much a fan of the second. πŸ˜€ and those buds... aren't they pretty? As beautiful as the flowers are, I wish they would never open #orchidlovers #happyplants
