Is it okay that I put my spider plant pup immediately in water and next to sunlight ? I really want to successfully grow one !

Plant seems to be getting a bunch of brown ends on the leaves plus is a little droopy I added more soil because I think I didn’t put enough and watered it until water dripped out of the pot

Why isn't my green spider plant growing babies or curling? I just moved her to less direct sunlight but a lot of indirect still. Lots of new leaf growth, but I've had her for over a year and never had babies.
