Hi everyone! I just noticed these little dots on my mint. What are they?

Why does it look so different?

Does anyone know if Apple Mint and Spearmint are one and the same, or are they just really closely related? The only way I can tell the difference between Apple Mint and Spearmint is the leaves. They smell and taste the same to me.
