#SplitLeafPhilodendron Discussion

baby green still waiting for this split-leaf to shoot out some roots under the plastic so i can move it to a better spot. meanwhile, it is shooting out a new leaf! the post on this air-layering attempt is here https:// #PropagationStation #SplitLeafPhilodendron #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

save the philo, part 2 i deleted the part 1 post because the first attempt didn't produce any roots. but i forgot to note the greggers who gave advice and wanted updates πŸ˜©πŸ™ˆ i hope you will identify yourselves again. as background, the philo is in the shadow of a giant bambu grove we need to cut down. i want to move it to a safer spot with better lighting. this time i was inspired by @Gustavo to 'air layer', to encourage some new root growth above the spot where the trunk will be cut. hopefully this will improve its chances of surviving transplant. 1) cut a shallow ring around the bark, removing the outermost and second layer 2) spread rooting hormone on the exposed inner layer 3) cover with moist peat moss 4) wrap with plastic to keep moisture in and bugs out, secure with zip ties 5) check periodically and hope roots appear! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PropagationStation #SplitLeafPhilodendron

THRIPER THRIPERS

Is this an air root already? Lol it's so cute! 😍

Watering issue? Do leaves ever return to normal? I’m unsure if it’s over or under watered. The plant is not in the sorching path of the sun..😫

My split leaf had mushy and yellowing leaves. I’ve had it for 3 weeks and watered it once. It is in low light. What am I doing wrong?

Mushy browing spots

stay tuned has anyone tried this? we have a big monstera - correction, philodendron - growing not so happily under two big bamboo groves. we will be cutting one grove back soon and i want to save the philodendron. well, part of it. packed its growing spot in moss, keeping it moist, and hoping it will send out some roots soon so i can cut and plant in a better spot. tips appreciated. stay tuned... #PropagationStation #Philodendron

Some leaves getting spots others almost bleached and wilty.

Leaves dying, no real growth
